I couldn’t help but have a little look at the (possibly slightly mad) wellness trends predicted for 2026. Not because I plan to do them all — my quest to live well continues, just not at any cost. And there are plenty being suggested. From cardio making a comeback (finally), to going more analogue, finding more connection, cultural workouts and contrast therapy.

The good news? I might already be ahead of the curve, because a few of these had already conveniently made their way into my 6 things to start 2026.

Here they are:

01

Run Every Day (RED) January – many people might think January is punishing enough without committing to running everyday. I get it. But I love running, it gives me a focus and it means I am out and about in daylight throughout the day. A must for navigating these final winter months. (ps – this SAD lamp helps too!)

02

Dancing – honestly, it’s one of the best ways to exercise. Sure, it gets your heart going, but it’s also great for our brain too as we attempt (in my case try to) keep our hands and feed moving with the music. Plus, it gives us a break from our phone, and if you’re dancing with others, it’s a fun way to connect. I love classes with The Freemovers.

03

Reducing UPFs (ultra-processed foods) – ever since I started reading Ultra-Processed People by Dr Chris van Tulleken, I have made changes to what I eat. During the first few chapters I was a bit obsessed, even to the point of making my own mayonnaise (turns out its very hard!). Lately, I’ve taken a different approach and focused on eating more whole foods and increasing the variety of vegetables on my plate. I’ve even signed up for a veg box to push me out of my comfort zone and into trying new recipes. And since its winter, I’m enjoying this simple, nutritious soup.

04

Contrast therapy – After enjoying a few outdoor saunas in 2025, I’m committing to at least one a month throughout 2026. Contrast therapy is great for circulation and reducing inflammation, but mostly I love how it makes me feel afterwards – energised, calmer, and more focused all at the same time

05

Tackling my list of fifty things – I’ve set myself a small challenge, firstly to create a list of 50 things to do in my 50th year and secondly making them happen. They range from things like a windsurfing lesson to growing a plant from scratch, and then there’s a hopeful visit to Tony’s Chocolonely factory and also learning to use a drill. I think I need to put a few dates against them all.

06

Thinking ‘f**k it!’ More often – stress and overthinking have been not-so-welcome companions in 2025, I plan to change that in 2026 and I’ll be adopting a well-timed f**k it approach – letting good be good enough, accepting that outcomes won’t always be perfect, and taking action before I’ve talked myself out of it.

And if I don’t manage to do everything?

Well… f**k it!

What do you have planned for 2026?
